The Angular team have confirmed that 1.7 will be the last major version of AngularJS. It will ship July 2018 and be backed by a 3 year support period.
AngularJS is the original version of Angular. It was superseded two years ago by Angular. In its heyday, AngularJS was being used by millions of developers around the world but it doesn’t support any of the hot new web trends.
The Angular team will continue to provide non-breaking fixes and updates for 3 years. After that, AngularJS will continue to be available on GitHub and NPM.
There has never been a better time to move to Angular. Some of the exciting things it supports are:
Progressive Web Apps (PWA)
Angular Universal (render HTML on the server)
Cross Platform Development (Electron, Ionic)
Modern UI (Angular Material)
